Remove Mosquito Habitat

Mosquitoes require standing water to breed — even the smallest collection of water in a clogged gutter, forgotten planter, or low-lying area of your lawn can support hundreds of larvae. Eliminating these sources is the single most effective step to reduce mosquito populations on a property. That's why every one of our visits includes a complimentary standing water review: identifying and addressing breeding sources before they become a problem.

Garlic-Based Fogging

Garlic oil is uniquely effective against mosquitoes at every stage of their life cycle.  It targets eggs, larvae, pupae, and adult mosquitoes, making it one of the most comprehensive natural treatment options available. Yards are treated every 3 weeks based on concentrate manufacture recommendation. Focus areas for application are the cool, moist zones that may see mosquito activity.

Biodiversity Enhancement

A thriving ecosystem is the best long-term mosquito deterrent. We recommend methods that will attract and support natural predators like dragonflies, birds, and beneficial insects that keep mosquito populations in check.

A few planting examples to help attract natural predators:

  • Pickerelweed — ideal for pond edges, provides perching stems and egg-laying surfaces right at the water's edge where dragonflies often breed
  • Black-eyed Susan — attracts the small flying insects dragonflies hunt, easy to grow throughout the Upstate
  • Soft Rush  — dragonflies lay eggs directly on the stems, making it one of the most important plants for supporting their life cycle

Birds that we want:

  • Purple Martin — the most celebrated mosquito predator in the Southeast; highly social and easy to attract with multi-unit martin houses. A single colony can consume thousands of insects daily.
  • Eastern Phoebe — a common SC flycatcher that hunts low to the ground, snatching mosquitoes and gnats right out of the air near vegetation and water edges.
  • Chimney Swift — one of the most efficient insect hunters in North America, consuming hundreds of flying insects per hour including mosquitoes.
